Suggest Treatment For Knee Wound With Oozing Pus

Hi,

I fell on Friday night and skinned my knee pretty bad, the wound was deep-ish. I have been applying Neosporin daily and putting bandaids on the wound and this white goop is coming out. The area is very tender right now so I don't want to push around too much over there. What should I do?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
You might have developed secondary bacterial infection of the wound.
I would suggest you see a dermatologist/general practitioner, who would prescribe you a course of oral antibiotics and analgesics. Also, proper management of wound like irrigation of wound and debridement may be required followed by regular regular dressing with antibiotics cream.
Hope this will take care of your issue.
Thank you
Dr Hardik Pitroda
