Joint pain associated with pain and swelling is commonly caused by spider bites or bug bites. You should wash the area bitten thoroughly with water and soap. Remove any stingers seen. Apply ice on the area affected. You can also apply calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream to reduce discomfort. Orally take acetaminophen (tylenol) and antihistamines for relieve. The swelling, pain and symptoms should reduce in 24-48 hours.
If not, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, you may need intravenous support or urgent medical aid. Chikungunya virus also presents with symptoms like fever and joint pain. Joint pain and swelling also occur in arthritis. Your treating doctor will tell you do few investigations and treat you accordingly. Take rest and plenty of water orally.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
