Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently developed jaw pain on my right side. Last night while attempting to eat a sandwich I noticed the pain. I understand that jaw pain is a symptom of heart attacks in females and am kind of worried. I checked my BP and it is running 120 s over 70 s with pulse of 63 to 67. I take BP medication. Earlier after eating today I felt nauseous as well but not for a long time now. Wondering if I should be worried right now? I plan on contacting my GP on Monday.
There could be many reasons behind jaw pain like Temporomandibular Joint(TMJ) problems,Dental problems(tooth decay or gum disease),cardiac problems etc.So important is to rule out reason for it. Do not worry and panic. The reason behind your jaw pain could be else apart from having heath attack.
I would advise you to go first to ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON who are specialized for TMJ & they can also rule out any dental problem behind it.If he/she denies any Dental or TMJ problem consult GP for further investigations to rule out problem.Till then relax & you can take analgesic like IBUPROFEN 200 mg three times a day to control pain.
Wish you a speedy recovery!
Thanks for choosing HealthCareMagic!
