Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rib Cage And Burning Sensation

I have severe itching on my left rib cage. There is not really a rash, but a definite red border line extending down both sides of my spine and up my middle to the breast bone area. There is a burning sensation associated with the itching and the lymph nodes on my rib cage are inflamed. Most of the itching is on my left rib cage - not on the red border line.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you may be having either allergic dermatitis or developing herpes zoster.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the skin as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching.
4. If there are any new skin lesions developing then consult a dermatologist for perfect diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
MBBS, DDVL.
