Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Wrist And Foot

I am a 57-year-old female. I have mild psoriasis and Type 2 diabetes. I have 3 small rashes which are slightly scaly and a little itchy (about 1 long and pencil-width wide). Locations are on the inside of my left foot, outside of left hand below pinky, and right inside wrist. I have had the foot and wrist rashes for about 2 weeks and the hand rash just showed up yesterday. I have made an appt. with a dermatologist but appt. is over a month away. Wondering what I could use in the meantime for the itching.

Hello,

I can understand your concern for itchy rashes on the wrist and foot.
There can be multiple possibilities of the itchy rashes on the wrist and foot and to diagnose the exact entity you require meeting a proper dermatologist. A dermatologist will analyze the exact cause of the itchy rashes on the wrist and foot and then will give you the best treatment if the same.

In my opinion it can be related to wither a fungal infection or due to simple dryness of the skin too. I suggest you to maintain good hygiene and keep yourself away from extreme of weather condition. Wear cotton clothes and cotton socks and do not wear anything synthetic.

For itching in my patients I generally prescribe oral anti histamine like loratadine. Do not scratch or rub the skin as it can lead to further aggravation.

If at all you feel that the area is increasing or there is more of aggravation of the problem then you can meet a family physician straight away.

All the best.
