Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Legs

I came down w/a rash after spending my first night @ a hotel- 7/21/16. (Out of town in Md.) I woke up scratching/itching and rashes on my knees and the backs of my legs. After 3 days, consulted hotel about my problem and for them to check for bed bugs. None found? I then went to a Mini Clinic and showed her my legs and new rash on upper arms. I was diagnosed w/allergic contact dermatitis and prescribed Tramcinolone. I returned home on day 6 and made an appt. w/my dermatologist for the next day. She diagnosed me with Urticaria-acute. I was to take 4 Zyrtec in the morning and 1 Benadryl at night for 1 wk. I saw her after a little over a week, rash was practically gone, but I was still itching. She then referred me to an Allergist. 8/22/16-Exactly 1 month of the rash, looked at pix of my legs and showed me pix on the Internet of bed bug bites. He said that s what I had (bb bites) and Atopic Dermatis too. 8/22- I was told to take Allegra 2x/day for 2 wks, along with a sheet for clothing, soaps, detergents, etc. I am a Type2 diabetic. I have never experienced anything like this. What is wrong with me? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of itchy rashes on the legs which could be due to factors such as environment, heat, cold, insect bite, pressure and sun exposure, which can act as a trigger factor. The most important thing is to find the trigger factor.

I would suggest you give cold compresses to hives several times a day to prevent from swelling and itching and take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl. If symptoms still persist the consulting dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. The doctor may perform skin test and challenge to find out the trigger factor. Stay in a cool and moist environment. Wear loose clothes and that too cotton one.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
