Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On The Arms And Chest While On Hydroxychloroquine

I have had a severely itchy rash on my arms for over a year now. Biopsies showed nothing..I have lupus and I take hydroxichloroquine and originally prior to taking that (several years ago) the med actually cleared up an existing rash for me, however I m wondering if years on this med caused this rash that has actually scarred me? I scratch til I bleed and bruise. Tried hundreds of dollars of mess and creams nothing works. Now it s on my chest? Any ideas

Hello,

It is due to the allergic eruption. As a first line management, you can take antihistamines like cetirizine for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
