My toddler has blister like things, as I do not know what to name them at this point. I have taken him to Emergencey room (pediatric) side at UTMB in Galveston, TX & was told he has hand foot and mouth disease. I can see why this conclusion was made. He had thrown up 1x day prior, had a fever that evening too & the bumps were located on palms of hands, soles of feet, and mostly on the toes, top of toes and end of toes, forming a clear- white blistering appearance with some much larger than others. He is having a rough time. I believe he is in pain and am absolutely certain of the severe itching he is experiencing. He was so angry that he began running around the house throwing his toys and hitting me. I made sure he was safe and reassured him this would pass and rang the dr again, questioning the hand foot mouth diagnosis. I was reassured this was what we were dealing with. I again questioned it later on during same day and again was told the same thing. Well- now 2 days later I am seeing these bumbs spread to legs tummy with the feet worsening. His mouth has a few flat red spots that may have ruptured, but do not know if a small blister was ever there, if there was it was overnight and I didn t see it. I keep thinking it is something other than hand foot and mouth, and then I go back to the vomiting fever and listlessness with the areas which this rash began- the feet hands and outside of mouth- none inside although. So it fits, all except the relentless itching. I just do not know what to do! I do not want to wait if it is not what I was told, especially with my son being miserable. I do not want to wait it out only to realize, oh it may be something different as this is only getting worse. I feel helpless and I do not want to be a disservice to my son by not trying any and everything until we figure it out, but also do not want to be a crazy lady if I am being impatient. Thanks in advance!
