Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Need evaluation with serum bilirubin for itching. If bilirubin is normal, need to look in dry skin.
2. Dehydration leading on to dry skin is common. Also age related low sebaceous function leads onto reduced secretion and causes dryness.
3. She needs to use skin moisturizers along with good hydration. Avoid using strong soaps. Dehydration can also cause concentrated secretion, which can cause extremely strong odor. Stuffiness of nose can lead to altered smells too. steam inhalation will be helpful.
4. Good skin care is essential. Not to worry.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
