i have chronic eyelid inflammation and my eyes get itchy. at night i cant help myself. tonight i itched really violently. i woke up with the sclera of my eye acting like a protruding jelly that folds at the iris edge when pushed. i am bloodshot, swollen under my eyes and no defining point any more inside/under my bottom eyelid.

Hi,

Please don't rub more as it releases inflammatory mediators and causes even more itching. You can use some steroid eye drops for only two weeks in tapering doses and then olopatadine and artificial tears for a month. It should be okay.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
