Suggest Treatment For Itching And Burning Sensation In Penis

I had sexual intercourse with my wife immediately after her periods were over. After that I developed itching in my penis combined with a burning sensation at times (not always). This has been going on for the past two-three days. Please suggest medicines.

Hi,

I can understand your concern for your symptoms, according to your complaint you may be suffering form Balanitis. You may be suffering from Balanitis which is inflammation of gland penis (tip of the penis) with symptoms of:

1. Tight foreskin, Redness around the glands,
2. Itching, irritation of the glands,
3. Discharge under the foreskin,
4. Unpleasant smell,
5. Painful urination,
6. Swelling

Cause of Balanitis:
1. Allergic to soap, condom, drugs, sex toys. Usually anti-inflammatory and local steroids will give good result
2. Inflammation caused due to acidic vaginal flora, can be seen few hours after unprotected sex.
3. Fungal/bacterial infection
4. Bad hygiene – proper cleaning of smegma can prevent Balanitis
