Suggest Treatment For Itching After Discontinuing Tinea Versicolor Medication
Hi I was diagnosed with tinea versicolor a month ago. I took oral pills and the itching stopped. A few days after I stopped medication but began to itch again. The itching tends to come and go and sometimes red blotches appear but will not stay long. Any idea what this could be?

Tinea versicolor is a fungal infection affecting the skin particularly in wet areas such is groins, arm pits. Topical antifungal creams such as Clotrimazole is advised to counteract the infection. The cream should be applied twice daily with twelve hour interval for better response.
Compliance with the medication is compulsory to cure the disease completely. Another two weeks of application once daily after the initial two weeks therapy helps much more to prevent the relapse. Poor compliance with the medicine will have no effect on the fungus. Maintain good hygiene to prevent recurrence. Discuss with the dermatologist for alternative medication.
