Suggest Treatment For Irritable Bowel Syndrome Despite Taking Dicyclomine 10 Mg And Ondansetron 4 Mg
My 61-year-old very otherwise healthy husband went to the ER this morning with severe abdominal pain. They did a CTscan and urinalysis. Ruled out appedicities and UTI. Sent him home with no meds after giving him Dilaudid and Phenergan at the ER. These wore off, we called our doctor, he prescribed Dicyclomine 10mg and Ondansetron 4mg. He took them both over an hour ago, but is still suffering from severe pain and feelings of nausea. Could this be Irritable Bowel Syndrome? What can I do to relieve his pain?
it is not a case of irritable bowel , IBS associated with alternating diarrhoea or constipation with abdominal pain and pain relieves after passing stools . he may have pain related to gall bladder stones or pancreatitis or intestinal obstruction , all of them are associated with pain and nausea . you have not mentioned about CT findings . sometimes peptic ulcer disease also causes same . anyway I can suggest you to take tab . pan-D and tab.meva -SR twice daily , if your symptoms doesn't respond you have to get done blood tests like LFT , Serum amylase ,lipase. Endoscopy to ruleout peptic ulcer.
