Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods

I have had irregular periods since I was 17. I am in birth control to regulate them. How would my boyfriend and I be able to get pregnant? Is there something else I should do? Or if I stop the pill ir will work? Like when I stop the poll I won t get a period until I start again....not sure what to do.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Irregular periods can be due to reasons like hypothyroidism or Polycystic ovarian syndrome. So it is better to check your thyroid profile and do an ultrasound examination to rule out Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Hormone levels also should be assessed. If there is any changes in hormone levels then substitution of those will be helpful. If you are ovulating normally there won't be any difficulty in conceiving. Otherwise you need to take stimulants for ovulation like clomiphene.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
