Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods

Hi, I've had problems with my periods before and they always seem to be irregular (I've been on birth control because of it for about a year now) but recently I went 3 months without a period and when I started again most of it was this thick black tar stuff that seemed to just clump together. What does this mean?

Hello
Such type of irregular menstruation period followed by amenorrhea ,may be due to these possibilities , these include:
1 Pcod ( Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease ) , as this is most common cause of such type of menstruation period . Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of ovaries .
2 Hormonal imbalance , is the another most common cause of such menses . Get in blood for andogen , FSH/LH ratio , estrogen level at different stages.
3 Uterine fibroid is another common cause of such symptoms . Get in ultrasound of uterus .
However , there are so many other causes of such symptoms like tension , anemia ,thyroid etc . But deal as mentioned above and consult a gynaecologist and get his opinion.
As thick dark colored tar type blood after a gap of 3 months may be due to any of above mentioned cause, so physical examination by a gynaecologist is also important.
Good luck.
