General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

An irregular period is mostly due to hormonal imbalance. (thyroid, ovarian problems, polycystic ovarian syndrome). These get differentiated by hormonal assessments and scanning of the pelvis. Once the cause is found specific treatment is given for relief. Please consult a gynecologist for assessment and advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
