Hello Dear,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Healthcare Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.

With such a presentation, the condition you are describing represents a secondary amenorrhea, which is the absence of menstrual periods for more than three to six months in a woman who previously had periods. The time interval of 10 months without menstruations definitely needs treatment, in order to improve your fertility and general health.
It would be very helpful if you give more details about other concomitant symptoms such as low body weight, acne, facial or chest hair, and headaches or impaired vision, in order to make a differential diagnosis.
Before advising you the proper treatment of your condition, I would like you to perform some blood tests in order to measure hormone levels, which include follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), prolactin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. If history or examination suggests a hyperandrogenic state, serum free and total testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate concentrations (DHEAs) are useful. I would recommend you also take a ultrasound of your ovaries, and an MRI of your head in order to evaluate hypothalamus and pituitary gland.
The condition I am suspecting, and the most common couse of secondary amenorrhea, beside pregnancy, is PCOS, which could be treated by taking hormone pills in order to balance your own hormonal level, and also metformin pills.
The second condition which could be probable is hypothalamic amenorrhea which could be resolved by lifestyle changes, such as eating a higher-calorie diet, gaining weight, reducing the intensity or frequency of exercise, and reducing emotional stress.
My advice is to seek consult with your local gynaecologist, in order to make a proper diagnosis by evaluating the examinations.

Hope I helped with my answer. For further concerns or follow up questions feel free to ask again.

Wishing you good health,
Dr. Ina
