Hello, I went to the ER with rapid irregular heartbeat weakness etc. They game me Cardizam IV and sent home on 120 mg. Diltiazem daily. I would like to know if I can stop the medication and take some natural alternatives after 6 days of the med. I am taking magnesium. Still having symptoms AF.

Hi .

Thanks for posting your query

Irregular heartbeat could be due to simple problems or it could be due to serious problems . The medications given to you is for a heart problem . So you need to undergo evaluation to know what exactly is the problem. Is it really due to heart ? or something else ( like Thyroid Disorder or Adrenal Problems ) .

You would require the following tests for the evaluation.

EKG , 2D Echo, Serum TSH and Serum Cortisol ( Morning and evening Sample )

As of stopping medicines is concerned I don't recommend that as natural alternatives may not be effective to you.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .
