Suggest Treatment For Injury To Ankles

Hello. On Wednesday morning I was playing softball for my gym class. I was standing near the pitchers ring and the one batting hit it really hard to my ankle. I held my ankle since I was in severe pain but I managed to walk it off, even though it was swelling pretty fast. I was able to continue on to my other classes since it didn t hurt to walk on. I did ice it during the day as well. When I got home I couldn t even see the inner part of my ankle it was swollen so I elevated it and iced it. Yesterday I stayed out of gym, even though it didn t hurt much, but it was still swollen and tender when I touched it. After school, I noticed a dark blue purple bruised around my ankle that stretched to my heel. But the thing is, us that the bruise is way below where it was hit and swollen on the part that was hit and below my ankle (I was hit on the front top part of my ankle) Should I go to the doctors? Or wait on it?

After going through your query I concluded that you may be having soft tissue injury to your ankle. It is swollen and bruised. You want to ask that bruises is on lower part which was not hit. It may be so because bruise is a subcutaneous Hematoma which tends to shift to dependent part. It's treatment is rest, elevation of limb and analgesic such as ibuprofen to relieve pain. Icing is helpful. You should get your x ray done to rule out fracture. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
