Suggest Treatment For Infecton On Toenail

I think I have an infection on my big toe and toenail...this started because I felt an itchy ingrown nail on my left big toe so I grabbed small scissors and picked at it. The next day I noticed my big toe looked swollen and it felt sore as well. Now I have a semi swollen toe with blisters filled with clear liquid right on top of my big toe. I went to get a pedicure and tried to get a fake nails on my big toe since the length is smaller then my other toe but as they began to do my pedicure they noticed yellow pis coming out so they said I shouldn t do a fake nail. Pls help its itchy and blister is getting bigger.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

You have got a condition known as ingrown toe nail wherein the distal edge of the toe nail grows into the soft tissue and causes pain.
The condition commonly affects the great toe. There may be secondary bacterial infection just as in your case which may give rise to increase in pain, swelling and oozing of pus.
If I was the treating doctor I would have started you on Oral antibiotics for a week to take care of the secondary bacterial infection.
My choice of Oral antibiotics would be either cloxacillin or cephalexin for a week.
If the ingrown toe nail causes pain and repeated infections of the great toe, it is better to undergo a procedure in which the toe nail is removed and the part of matrix on the side of ingrowing toe nail is cauterized to prevent it from ingrowing in future. The procedure is known as Nail avulsion with Phenolic partial matriectomy.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist or a general surgeon for the needful.
