My Aunt suffered a major traumatic brain injury when she was struck walking across the street. A pedestrian, she was knocked down by a vehicle. She survived the resulting craniotomy and had a series of events that followed. She had two body infections with high fevers. her heart stopped in the coolng process. She probably was fighting a fever. her heart stopped and she was revived manually by chest compressions. it took 5 min before she was revived. is she brain dead?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
In case of brain death, the patient shows cognitive / motor functions. Does she show any of such symptoms? Consult a neurophysician, the brain issue needs to be scrutinised and infection needs to be treated with suitable antibiotic for sufficient days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
