My boyfriend has contanstant indegistion and after loads of tests from the hospital, cannot seem to get rid of it. He takes medications from the chemist constantly and I wanted some advice regarding what sort of foods to avoid?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Since your boyfriend is a male of 46 and getting constant indigestion and still not getting rid of the problems in spite of loads of tests and medication, it may be related to some problems like IBS meaning irritable bowel syndrome. In such a case the patient can get varied symptoms like bloating, diarrhea or hard stool and so on. There can be an associated intolerance to some foods and beverages. Hence I would advise him the following investigations: Tests of stool for three days, tests of blood and urine. CT scan of the abdomen. Colonoscopy. May be a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics sometimes helps. But if all the investigations are normal then the obvious problem can be in the IBS and thus a control of stress and/or anxiety can be the best way as well as avoiding all the foods and beverages that either instigate or enhance hte problems.
