Suggest Treatment For Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia While Having Hypothyroidism

My daughter is 18 and has been suffering from IST for 2 years now. She has been on flurodine and they took her off that. Her heart rate sits at around 110-13- resting. Exercise shoots it up to 180. We see an adult cardiologist in a week, I want to know if she would be a candidate for ablation. She does have Hypothyroidism and has been gaining weight like crazy although her TSh is regulated with medicine.

Sometimes, L - Thyroxine that she might be getting may cause tachycardia and may be helped by adding Propanolol to the medication.

However, a resting tachycardia @ 110 per minute is really not okay and needs further evaluation. An incesant heart rate like this may lead to deterioration in Cardiac Function withtime, what is called as "Tachy-Arrhythmopathy".

Is this tachycardia really a "Sinus" Tachycardia or just looks like that.
I have experienced instances where similar looking tachycardia are in fact an "Atrial Tachycardia" or " Atrial Flutter wit 2 to 1 conduction". You have correctly guessed that in such situation an Electro-Physiological Study and Radio-Frequency Ablation has a role.

So, definitely a trained cardiologist with special inerest in Electrophysiology would be the best consultant in your Daughter's case.
