I have completed this same course on 9 Sep and she also advised me to take thyox 50 mg for 3 months. Its been 7 dats now and I have been not getting periods although I am having abdominal pains Bt cant see a single spotting. Kindly suggest what to do.
PCOS is actually a diagnosis of exclusion. There can be a variety of reasons that can cause PCOS like picture. One of them is hypothyroidism. But if problem persists even after adequate treatment of hypothyroidism, other causes should be looked for. Some of them are: 1. Cushing's Syndrome 2. Hyperprolactinemia (increased prolactin levels in the blood) 3. Acromegaly 4. Androgen secreting tumors 5. Variant of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia etc. This in not the complete list but the common ones are listed here.
Deviry is Medroxyprogesterone (MPA). Your doctor gave you MPA as a progestrone challenge test. This is done to see the status of estrogen sufficiency or insufficiency in the body. But this test is not foolproof.
Therefore, to ascertain the correct diagnosis, a complete history and physical examination is a must, followed by relevant investigations.
Hope it helps......
