Suggest Treatment For Hyperthyroidism

Hi..This is related to one of my family members. She is 22 and is diagnosed with hyperthyroid for almost a year now. She is under medical control and is receiving pills. May I ask : even though she is under control of a physician and being monitored for a year, will she also show the symptoms of hyperthyroid (including mood change, problem with eyes...) ? Considering her age?

Dear User
Thank you for asking on HCM.

Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid overproduces hormones.
Initial treatment for hyperthyroidism usually is antithyroid medicine or radioactive iodine therapy.(not in all the causes)
Can you tell me please :Did your daoughter takig Antithyroid medicine as doctore recommend her?

May i know your last blood test thyroid hormone level?

During and after treatment for hyperthyroreidism, you will have regular blood tests to check your levels of thyroid stimulation hormone TSH
•     You will also have regular Thyroid Hormon test to check your levels of hormones called T4 and T3.
•     To be sure if Your daughter have Graves Disease we must to check Antibody level called thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI)

In your daughter case we must to be sure dose of pill effectis so (These tests are a good way to know how well your treatment is working..)
My adive is to chek bood test for
•     Tsh ,T3, T4 , TSI , (hormone level)
•     Ultrasound to see the thyroid structure.
•     Nuclear medicine scan

Your daughter have eyes problem ?
Did she have red eyes? Drye eyes? Did daughter docter tell her about Grave’s disease?
How often she is feel not in good mood?
These symtoms like problems in eyes and mood changes are present in patiens with hyperthyroid dispite the age .
The consider of your daughter symptoms my suggest is :
After all bood test:Tsh , T4, T3, Ultrasound , Nuclear medicine scan , TSI you must to counsoult with endocronologies and problems eyes ophtalmmolog

If you have any further queries, please feel free to ask. I would be happy to help. Kind Regards
