Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern i would like to explain that it is normal to have drug induced hypertension when using steroids like dexamethasone (although dexamethasone is one of the steroid with the minor fluid retention effect).

The high blood pressure is going to decrease slowly after stopping dexamethasone intake.

I would recommend to lower the doses of dexamethasone and avoid salt intake with food.

If this is not possible due to her clinical condition, i would recommend to start on an antihypertensive drug like a diuretic (hydroclorthiazide) during the treatment with dexamethasone.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings! Dr. Iliri
