General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi Sam.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.

THis is very unlikely to have a hydrocele after a varicocele surgery.
Hydrocele is just a collection of fluid in a sac wherein the production of fluid is more than absorption or the absorption becomes less due to some inflammation, as may expected in your case.

I would advise you the following:
First of all get an ultrasonography and color doppler of the scrotum.
Get the proper diagnosis.
The surgery of the hydrocele very simple and straight forward. A small incision and the sac is kept open to the undersurface of the skin so that the extra fluid is absorbed by the body and sent back to circulation.

Do not give another thought. You may take a second opinion of another Urologist or a General Surgeon.
