Suggest Treatment For Husky Voice After Sore Throat And Coughing

I had a sore throat for a couple of days and my voice became husky. Two weeks later I am kept awake at night by my coughing, my voice remains the same but what is really weird is that I no longer have a sore throat. My upper chest has a tight feeling but it is not uncomfortable. Sputum has remained clear throughout. Do I need to see my doctor or will this run it's course

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

Your history suggests of edema of the vocal cords (voice box). First, start with house hold remedies:
1. Drink plenty of warm water
2. Do steam inhalation 3-4 times a day for 2 min.
3. Absoulte voice rest.
4. Avoid coffee and fizzy drinks.

Watch for a week; if you are not getting better, consult an apt ENT Specialist.

Regards
