Suggest Treatment For Hip Fracture

We have a 91 year old female relative who fell and fractured her hip just prior to Christmas. Four hours later she went into hospital and a couple of days later had surgery. But over the past few weeks her health in hospital deteriated she now has bed sores and dry gangrene and has now been sent to a nursing home closer to her relatives. She is sleeping 98% of the time now and also has malnutrition do you know what her life expectancy may be?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and feel really bad after listening her condition. it is very sad that she had all these complication. It is very difficult to comment about life expectancy but yes she needs good care of bed sore and chest. She will need physiotherapy, respiratory exercises and soft water bed. Daily dressing of bed sores should be done. This care will help her in prolong life otherwise poor lady will not survive for more then few months. God bless her.
thanks
