Suggest Treatment For Hip Bursitis

My right hip feels that perhaps I have Bursitis in it. It started 8/7, when I went biking too long. Bicycle. Its most painful after I rest, either laying or sitting. Worst time is when I can t put any weight on my leg. Usually in the morning because I ve rested for 8 hours. I find that the more active I am, the less painful is my leg. I get myself walking in the morning, a mile. By the time, I get home I ve reduced the pain from 7 to 2 . I go bike riding and I m without pain. Literature states I should rest my leg so I m confused. How long after I sit does the pain come back? Less than 5 minutes. The longer I sit the stronger the pain. I have an appointment with Physical Medicine department next week but I m so curious. So far I haven t been able to find anything on the web that seems to fit my description.

Dear Sir/ Madarm,

Thank you for posting your query at healthcaremagic.com

Bursitis is inflammation of a bursa.
There are two types of hip bursitis:-
1. Trochanteric bursitis frequently causes tenderness of the outer hip.
2. Ischial bursitis can cause dull pain in the upper buttock area.

Treatment:
noninfectious bursitis : rest, ice, and medications for inflammation and pain.
Infectious bursitis (uncommon) : treated with antibiotics, aspiration, and surgery

Once the pain is down do stretching of hamstrings muscle and piriformis muscle.
The streches to be done 5 times for the hold of 10 counts 2 times a day.

Please write to me for any clarification or any further information.

With best wishes
