Suggest Treatment For High Prolactin Levels When Diagnosed With Pituitary Tumor

I have a pituitary tumor and I am seeing a doctor for it tomorrow. I have to see and endocrinologist and a neurosurgeon. I was curious as to what will happen at each appointment. I have never been to a doctor for this since it was discovered in August. My tumor is 12mm, and I have a high prolactin level. I was also wondering what kind of treatment they might suggest.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Initially medicines are used for treatment of increased prolactin level. Most commonly used medicine for treatment of increased prolactin level is bromocriptine. This is a very effective medicine for this condition. This is a prescription based medicine and a written prescription is needed to purchase it. Sometimes surgery is required to remove tumor when it becomes resistant to treatment with medicines. Consult your neurosurgeon for this purpose. He/she will better guide you.
I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question
