Suggest Treatment For High Heart Rate

My doctor has told me that I have Vtec( i think0 tacquicardia and I had some very very high heart rates. Usually at night when I wake up. I am now on blood pressure reducing pills as the side effect is that they block the incorrect electrical flow in my heart. However someimes I still wake up and roll over and my heart increases quickly in beat. However now it is perhpas only going from 55 to 95 for 30 seconds. Also if I get annoyed / excited the same thing happens. What could this be ?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a cardiac arrhythmia.

I would like to review your test reports for a more professional opinion.

I would also recommend performing some tests in case you have not performed them yet:

- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring in order to investigate for cardiac arrhythmia
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction
- blood electrolytes for possible imbalance
- complete blood count for anemia.

Hope to have been helpful!

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
