Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have been told that my BP is too high.In the surgery it was154/89. I have to take readings 3x per day for a week and then go back .THe doctor has also made an appointment for a chest x-ra and a consultation with the hospital cardiology unit .What could be Wrong?
It would have been good if you had shared the BP readings that you have mentioned you have recorded 3 per day for a week. You need to have those readings under 140/90 to be labeled as normal. Otherwise you may be asked for salt restriction, exercise and some BP medication for regular usage. More than 90 percent cases of blood pressure are of primary hypertension, which means directly due to variation in tensility of blood vessels and not due to other causes. Though a renal doppler and electrolytes and thyroid and cortisol levels may be needed in some cases. Hoping you a speedy recovery. Regards.
