Suggest Treatment For High BP And Tenderness Around The Nipples

I had been taking spironolactone for @ 4 months to treat high blood pressure and heart disease. I noticed a swelling and tenderness around my left nipple. 3.5 years ago I had open heart surgery and my left mammary artery was used in the procedure to replace a fully blocked artery. My heart doctor advised to simply stop taking the medication. My primary care doctor has scheduled me for a mamogram. Can this drug create and leave a deposit that is dangerous?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

One side effect of spironolactone is breast enlargement. And this may be painful. So your problem may well be caused by the drugs and luckily it's reversible after the drug is stopped.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
