Hi, just wondering I have a herniated disc which I was advised to get back surgery 3 years ago. Now this is pressing on my Sciatica and causing sever pain and I going to physical therapy for 2 weeks, which I did three years ago and I woke up one morning and didn't need the surgery, the pain was gone. Pain is in my back and down my leg. Wondering if I should get an MRI to see what is happening? Thanks for your help.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have herniated disc and sciatica . Well disk herniation is most often the result of a gradual, aging-related wear and tear called disk degeneration. Twisting and turning while lifting is also one of the major reason for this problem . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan ,MRI , myelogram , nerve conduction test along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe percocet , gabapentin , muscle relaxant along with cortisone injection . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy and surgery in some severe cases.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
