My boyfriend has been dealing with hemorrhoids for quite some time now. Almost everytime he uses the bathroom there is a lot of blood when he wipes & in the toilet. The water turns red. He got some over the counter medicine & it doesnt seem to be working...any suggestions?

Hi,

Treatment depends on stage and severity of hemorrhoids. Avoid spicy food, alcohol, smoking, and caffeine drinks.

Eat high fibre diet and do regular exercise. Drink plenty of water and eat green leafy vegetables. Use syrup Lactulose. Consult your physician for prescription.

If symptoms do not improve, please consult your doctor who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
