Suggest treatment for hemochromatosis in a child

I Have a daughter (14) who has been diagnosed with hemochromotosis and my daughter informed me that the local doctors where she lives are not willing to do regular blood tests to monitor her levels. They have told my exwife that they will do nothing more until the child is the legal age of 18. I find this disturbing as the child has been diagnosed, and there should be some course of ongoing testing, and blood donations at the very least in my opinion. Please advise as to what you think is the proper action in this case. Thank you.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Treatment for hemochromatosis includes low iron containing diet, with iron chelation therapy. Deferasirox or deferiprone helps in iron chelation. If liver involvement is there, then treatment would be supportive and liver transplantation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirubhan Bharathy, Pediatrician

His EF rate was betweeen 5-10% now at 20% according to latest Echo, but he can barely walk or talk without being winded. He is on the liver and transplant list as a 1B waiting at home on dobutomine, how long can one stay on the drug without damage to organs? The dr wants to do a right heart cath to measure pressures now sure why...thanks

HI - male 31 with haemochromatosis. Had a venesection last month and as part of my routine blood tests my consultant noted that my antibodies were low. He wants more tests done - I am a little concerned - I had drank alcohol in the days leading up to the venesection - could this have distorted my antibodies reading?

I had to fast just before giving blood . I gave blood and after doing so I felt fine until about 10 mins later. I suddenly started to sweat profusely and my stomach hurt. My ears started to clog and I felt really dizzy. I barely made it home. We I got home I had to use the bathroom. My stomach still hurts but the sweating has subsided and some of the dizziness . There is also some slight pain in my chest but it almost feels like heartburn . Any ideas of what could have happened?

My 16 year old daughter fainted yesterday at school about 30 minutes after taking Bayer asprin. Today, before giving blood at her school blood drive, a nurse checked her blood pressure and it was 90/62 (they let her give blood anyway). After giving blood, she felt very weak and could hardly stand up. Could her fainting be from the asprin or could it be a side effect of her low blood pressure?

I have been having ringing in my ears for about a month now. I tried ear drops to remove possible wax build-up with no help. Today I tried to donate blood but I wasn't allowed due to a high pulse rate. My blood pressure was normal. I have never been told I had a high pulse rate. I am a 58 yr old male in pretty good health

Hi there, I had a CBC done at the emergency room about six months ago for stomach pain which they concluded was a possible ulcer or IBS . Since then the pain has went away for the most part. I had to request my medical records for insurance...
