Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a cat scan of the pelvic area and it showed I have a Hemangioma on my liver. The radiologist sent the report to primary doctor stating I should have an MRI. When I called my doctor to see what my cat scan showed he said I didn t need an MRI and should make an appointment in 3 months. What should I do next?
I agree with your primary doctor.I also don't suggest for MRI scan.Contrast CT scan can easily diagnose liver hemangioma. You may only need follow up ultrasound scan as ultrasound causes no radiation hazard.
Liver hemangioma is a benign lesion and it is made up of dilated blood vessels. It is generally an incidental finding and rarely require any treatment. It may require treatment if it is causing symptoms like pain.
