Suggest Treatment For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

My daughter (13 years old) is suffering from excessive bleeding during her irregular periods. She is using pause 500 and regestron 5. She has got blood transfusion twice in last 9 months due to dip in hemoglobin level. My question: is it a issue of gynecological or hematological ? Should I visit a hematologist?

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. heavy menstrual flow [menorrhagia] at her age is usually due to anovular cycles and since she has already received general as well as specific medicines thus consult your gynecologist for evaluation:

i. P.V. examination and USG to rule out abnormalities of uterus
ii. Hb gm%, WBC, Bleeding disorder profile, Serum T3,T4,TSH

2. you should visit a Hematologist to exclude possibilities like von willebrand disease or mild hemophilia.
