Suggest Treatment For Heartburn And Food Regurgitation

hi,i have been having difficulty swallowing, felt like a lump in my throat, had an ent scope and everything was clear, consultant said everything was clear, and said i have acid reflux as i have also had a burning sensation continuosly in my throat, and sometimes when i eat i can feel the food coming back up my throat and i keep coughing to try and clear my throat, also ear pain, and stabbing pains around my collar bone, all this is apparantley reflux acid,i am waiting for a scan as i had been having discomfort on my right hand side under the rib area which my gp thinks is gallstones, that discomfort eased a few weeks ago but seemed to move more to the middle of my upper abdomen above and around the navel area, whilst all this has been going on,i had a water infection, and had pain in my lower back and then developed pain in my left hip, which i had never experienced before, the water infection has cleared but the pain in the left hip if anything has got worse, and now i keep getting pain low down on my left side as well as the left hip, a few days ago i noticed some bright red blood on my stool and the blood was in the stool, the last 2 days my stool has gone a lighter shade and had black flecks in it, and something that looked a bit like red jelly,i am past myself as i am thinking ive got bowel cancer which is spreading every where,im 41,and there is no history of bowel cancer in the family, ive had blood tests a few weeks ago which came back clear i have had a stool test for H pylari and i am waiting for an ultra sound scan,i have also been having stabbing pains in my armpits and spreading a little up the inside of my upper arms, and also stabbing pains at the side and front of my breasts,i just feel as if something is spreading through my body and nobody seems to be taking any notice of me,i would be very interested to hear any replys, thanks

Hi! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Even though it is good to be concerned about one's own health, one should not become frightened or obsessive on cancer without a clinical examination and the related investigations if any.

All your symptoms at very many places might be not related to each other clinically.

Regarding the GERD (reflux of acid), the following steps could be of help for you:

1) Elevate the head end of the bed with two blocks on each side, so that the regurgitation does not occur while lying down, and the contents of esophagus and stomach flow down with gravity.
2) Some modification in your diet like more of roughage, enough liquids, avoidance of oily, fried, and fast food
3) Regular routine exercises like morning walk depending on your medical fitness.
4) Prescription for a prokinetic agent and a proton pump inhibitor for symptomatic relief and to have a control on the acid production and facilitate movement of gastric contents downwards.

Further management would depend on the reports of the ultrasound/CT scan/ endoscopic evaluation of your intestines by a gastro enterologist.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
