Suggest Treatment For Headache While Having Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
MY DAUGHTER WHO HAS SYSTEMIC LUPUS SINCE LAST YEAR, NOW 19 YRS OLD, HAS HEADACHES CONTINUALLY SINCE PAST 10 MONTHS. TOPAMAX DID NOT HELP, NOR NSAIDS. NOW HAS BEEN ON INCREASING DOSES OF ELAVIL, AS PER NEUROLOGIST. STILL NOT HELPING- ON 50 MG NITELY. MRI NEGATIVE. THINKING OF TAKING HER TO A HEADACHE CLINIC???

The symptoms are consistent with common causes like migraine or tension headache, as a first line management you can try analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.
If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intracranial (inside the brain) causes.
