Suggest Treatment For Headache, Tiredness And Dry Mouth

I have strong headaches coming every day now. It hurts the right back side of the head, the side and cannot move my head. Before, I had this headaches but not as constant like now. I am tired and have a bad taste in my mouth and very dry. I was taking 2 capsules of extra strength excedrin and that took care of it fast. Noe excedrin, acetaminophen or Tylenol won t work.

Hi,

Your headaches have converted into what is referred to as Chronic daily headaches which are most likely due to a common phenomenon known as medication overuse headache syndrome (MOH). This is where a person will take MORE than what is recommended of analgesics for headaches within a month's time and this leads to headaches that become more frequent and more difficult to treat using those same OTC medications.

The only way to escape this situation is by stopping all analgesic use while the headaches return to their baseline status (this usually takes 3-4 weeks depending upon how much OTC or even prescription medication you've been taking) and then, seeing a neurologist (preferably headache specialist) for recommendations on how to treat breakthrough headaches as well as possibly Prophylax or prevent the more minor daily headaches using medication which cannot cause MOH syndrome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
