Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i started getting a headache every day last week in the evening, then woke up tuesday-i work 3rd shift- with a headache that hasnt stopped since. its a dull throbbing mostly in my temples and forehead but sometimes moves to the back of my head. over the counter meds keep it low enough so I can function. I have never been diagnosed with migranes or other specific headaches so I dont have any other meds. no congestion but some nausea when they are at their worst and seems to get worse when I sit down
The most common causes of headaches are migraines, tension headaches, sinus related headaches, headaches due to trauma.
If the headaches are severe, throbbing, last for at least 4 hours, associated with nausea, worsening with noise or light, then it is possible that they are migraines.
Tension headaches can also be severe.
Your doctor can diagnose which type is present. If the over the counter pain medication is not decreasing the headache completely then your doctor can prescribe stronger pain medication for you.
I hope this helps
