Suggest Treatment For Gross Hematuria

My friend has just called me complaining of gross hematuria - he recently had a not too serious motorcycle accident (2 days ago) which gave him some road rash, (perhaps a combined total of 8 square inches on the belly and shoulder) and a bruised shoulder. Are these incidents likely to be related?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Gross hematuria is critical condition as any significant renal injury needs to be evaluated.
2. Get our friend to ER to get an immediate ultrasound and urine examination.
3. He might require blood transfusion, especially if any internal bleeding has happened. You need to keep blood ready. Go to ER immediately.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
