Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your concern.
The are several factors causing the goiter. The hormonal level is not enough in these cases. It gives information regarding the function of the thyroid gland but you need other examinations to see the structure of it.
In these cases the ultrasound and probably the scintiscan would be of help.
If you have clinical symptoms that suggest a large gland that causes compression of the airways or difficulty in swallow than you should not delay the above mentioned exams.
Hope the information will help.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta Guni
