Suggest Treatment For Gallstone

I have a 4 cm gallstone. Should it be taken out if I don't have many of the usual symptoms. I am 65 and my dr. says that I have probably had it a long time. I don't hurt when I eat a fatty meal or a big meal. Right now I keep having a pain just about the area of my right bottom rib cage. It has been there for about 4 months. I weigh 150 pounds and am female.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and thanks you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can with my answer.

If there are no symptoms then this is called asymptomatic cholelthiasis and surgery is not necessary especially if there is large single stone as in your case. However,if symptoms occur then surgery is recommended to prevent I inflammation and pancreatitis.Till that, try to reduce fats intake and alcohol.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
