Suggest Treatment For Fungus Growth On The Toe Nail

Hello, I have been struggling with toe nail fungus for 4+ years. I have gone to a pediatrist 3 years ago and been to an old PCP and a new PCP. The pediatrist believed it was just a nail discoloration, my old PCP believed it was a left over discoloration from polish. My crcurrent PCP perscribed me an antifungal -apparently it was strong as I was not allowed to drink any alcohol and had to have multiple blood tests. It has been a year since taking this antifungal and i am still losing nails on my toes. They grow yellow and very thick but basically flake off layer by layer. Is there antthing i can do to heal my toes and regrow healthy nail?

Hello there. It takes up to a year when you use topical antifungals. Oral antifungals need to be used for about 3 months. Monitoring of liver function is advised. You can actually try laser therapy for fungal nail infection. Its very effective and cosmetically good too. You need to be patient with this because it takes time to cure. The nails that are affected doesn't in fact change. The nails that grow out should be healthy. That's the principle. Hope it helped. Take care.
