Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes I have a displaced jones break in rt foot by 3ml. I don t want to have surgery will it heal? I am 54 years old and a screw would never work as I am active. I was told without the screw it may only heal as scar tissue yet my done density and calcium levels are normal. I drink a lot of milk and eat a lot of cheese. I was put in a cam boot for now. Should I wait to see what happens to my foot?
I have studied your case and I understand that you do not want surgery. I would recommend you to apply a weight bearing plaster and wait for 4 weeks. Most probably this fracture will heal in this time. If there is continuous feeling of pain and disability then you can opt for surgery at that time. It is good that you are taking lot of calcium in your diet. Also you should not walk much and avoid keeping your foot in dependent position for long time.
