Suggest Treatment For Fibromyalgia And Acid Reflux

My pulmonary specialist prescribed generic avelox for a possible pneumonia, but as it turned out I really have inflamed bronchi due to bronchiacstasis which caused me to cough up considerable blood. I am 69 and have fibromyalgia, acid reflux, mac, and afib and have many years ago torn connective tissue in my hip. Since taking the avelox, I have experienced increased pain in my hips as well as my neck and also some tingling in the soles of my feet. I saw my doctor today and she said I must continue the avelox until done. I have taken 6tablets and have 8 moe to go. It it advisable to continue this medication...what should I do?

Hi,

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, yes quinolone the group avelox belongs to is notorious to cause such side effects however alternative medicine like macrolides may be used unless resistance is established by cultures. Using Gabapentin or duloxetine may decrease such symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
