Suggest Treatment For Fever, Nausea, Vomiting And Chills

My sister has been sick for 6 weeks+ with the following symptoms: chills, then fever around 101 - 102, red spots on her skin that looks like bruses that eventually fade but new ones occur. The first few weeks she was also nauseaus and vomiting, but that has somewhat subsided. She has seen 2 local Drs. been to the walk-in clinic twice and to the ER and none were able to diagnose. The ER Dr. has made her an appointment with an Infectious Disease Dr but in the future. One Dr. thought it could be Lyme Disease and treated her with a round of antibiotic. And another Dr. put her on another antibiotic of which they overlapped a couple of days. After several weeks, she has discovered that the chills/fever come on at approximately the same times during the day: 11am, 5-6 pm, and sometimes 9-10pm. No antibiotics presently, only Tylanol. Thanks for your help on this.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

We have to rule out possibilities like upper respiratory tract infection.

A short course of empirical antibiotics may be tried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
